Sweetwater has a much lower minimum and is 3 installment plan. And of course they all have return policies as well, so you can send something back if its not floating your boat.

The thiing of course is do they have what you want? Sweetwater probably has a better selection of higher end pedals, but Zzounds carries some cool stuf as well.
    good to know! thanks!

And how much do you guys think the rental prices should be?

Keep in mind the shipping and return shipping and packaging is included in the price.

Well, hmm ... PGS has a 60 day return policy on pedals, so if you decide you don't want one you're only out the cost of return shipping. Plus they carry a lot more stock. They don't carry Strymon though.

It's a good idea on paper. I'm just not sure if it's actually necessary in practical terms.

The one area where I could see this being useful is if you wanted to rent a high dollar pedal for a recording session.

The few pedals that caught my eye cost $40 to try out for a week. Heck, for the cost of 3 rentals, you could buy quite a bit of stuff used (the market is incredibly soft these days and stuff is going for real cheap). For some rare stuff, I could see it being worth it, but the prices are a bit high considering the average pedal can be shipped USPS priority for $5. For $20, it'd be worth it.

I don't know... It's kind of a 'cleaner' way of trying something you may not want to keep. Yeah a lot of places have great return programs, but I know most bigger buisnesses keep track of customers and catagorize them depending on returns and usage of 'promo' deals. Best Buy for example... Your either an angel or a devil and if a devil they won't go out of their way for any customer service if your a 'pest' so to speak. I like this website's idea. No guilt, no worrying about getting on a companies bad side for trying out a bunch of stuff and waisting time with returns.

And buying and re-selling on craigslist can be a huge pain in the grundle. As my kids get older and gas prices higher and the used market softer, it's hard to sell almost anything quickly. I'd be willing to pay $20 to rent a good pedal and if I like it that rental fee is taken off and the price isn't any worse than most dealers. I will side with Hoss and say I like this idea! Cheers!

I rarely buy pedals because I usually end up disappointed. I think this would be fun, too. I love zzounds and always end up buying stuff from them. When I order from there, stuff shows up the next day sometimes! I hate to return stuff though, just plain hate it. Before I was married if I bought clothes and then they didn't fit ( because of course I wouldn't try them on) sometimes I would just toss them in a donation bin rather than bring them back. Women seem to have no problem returning stuff but I think men don't like to do it. This Way, you don't feel bad returning stuff. There are probably lots of pedals I would like, but I'll never know because I don't want to get burnt. I am sort of gassing for a really nice OD pedal. I may try this out.

I received my pedal today after ordering a few minutes before my post. It didn't come boxed but I'm still satisfied. Works like a charm and I will incorporate it heavily. As I bought it I can't vouch for the rental fees but so far I'm more than satisfied

Yeah, once I saw that all the shipping was included, it sounded better.

No matter what, his idea for a rental business will probably succeed. I wish I'd thought of it. Even if you had a gigantic pedal collection, you could do what he's doing without the RTO. After a few months, all of your pedals would be paid for, minus a few dings on them.

I've thought about doing that in LA/SFV with a collection of high dollar amps.
I could get them paid for, just by renting them.

Just got an email from the site owner and he said that once my payments are done he will send me the box free of charge which to me is great service. It wasn't really an issue to begin with but it's good to know they're willing to satisfy customers
