Default The Mechanix vs. The Four Horsemen

    vs.

    Which do you prefer?

I prefer Megadeth's version, but both are great songs. Megadeth's is more thrashy and to the point, which I like. The Metallica version kinda feels a little all over the place at times. Although, Cliff Burton kicks serious ass on this track.

    Lyrically, Metallica gets the nod.

Both fantastic tracks at the birth of an era.

I gotta vote Mega. Just hits me in all the right spots. I agree - Horseman can gt a little all over at times. Met didn't have quite the focus of Dave's anger yet.

    The Four Horsemen.

Lyrically there is no contest. Musically I think it's a little more complex and in depth. They're both good songs though. I do like the opening chords better for the Mechanix.

Lyrically there is no contest. The Mechanix. It entertains the hell out of me.

I always liked Megadeths "version" of the song better.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't it Dave's song originally?

I like them Both. When I think of Metallica's first album Four Horsemen come to mind. I do like Dave M as a musician better. I think I wont vote....

megadeth's for sure. its too boring slowed down like that. personally, i'm suprised there are metal musicians who seriously think metallica are relevant to the music scene, especially to thrash metal.

Metallica were unbeatable during those first four records.

Megadeth did great things during that time, but the Metallica flame was burning most brightly in the '80s.

I like the lyrics of The Four, but I prefer Dave over Kirk, and I like the speed of The Mechanix better. I love the first solo in The Four Horsemen though.

In a Megadeth vs Metallica poll the only one who wins is Slayer.....

It's funny that as a kid I really wansn't into Megadeth. I like them now though, and recognize that Mustaine's musicianship and the bands in general is better than Metallica's. However, I'll still be more of a Metallica fan overall. So I voted the Four Horsemen, but I have to listen to Killing is My Business overall a bit more as I've had limited exposure to that album.

Actually since they were both written by Dave, they're both the real deal.

I prefer Horsemen. Despite what Lars turned Metallica into around the Black album, it cannot undo the good Metallica did before that.

I love the slower interlude in Four Horsemen. As a whole, I like Megadeth much better than Metallica, but Metallica did this song much better.
