    Default humbucker output problem

Hi! I'm fairly new to installing pickups, so I need some help on my latest installation attempt.

I installed a humbucker set in an Agile Valkyrie Natural Ash the other day. The bridge pup turned out fine, with great output and improved tone, but the neck pup's output was very weak.

I don't think I soldered the components improperly, so what could cause this problem (besides a defective pup)?

I'd appreciate any help and advice. Thanks!!

get an ohm meter and get a reading on each. if the bridge is like 16k and the neck is 5k maybe you need a hotter neck pickup.

It would be nice to know what pups you installed. We can't really tell you what's wrong, or IF anything is wrong, without knowing what you've got.

Thanks for the replies. The pups are Artec Super Power Humbuckers. The neck pup I believe is rated at about 10k.

Improper soldering. Check the install with a multimeter, it sounds like a cold solder joint somewhere.

A picture of the cavity would help bunches...

or maybe one of the coils in the neck pup is shorted out or not making electical contact. If these are 4 conductor pups, check your soldering and make sure that none of the wires touch any ground.
