Mr. B- "Also, why would we think the pickups in that Epi Les Paul bridge would be the same as the ones in a Mexican strat ??? "
Because they are both called "Hot Alnico Vs, and they are both around 12 to 13k.
That's enough to think they're similar.
In any event, I only said "if" they are similar...
I was hoping someone would know if they were the same Hot Alnico Vs-
The MIM wasn't too important, I just added that to describe the axe.

The OP is putting this new pup in a LP without a maple cap. His other LP that he likes the tone of has a maple cap. He will want a pup that is a little on the bright side with high output. Therefore:
Custom,
C5,
Distortion

Thanks for some thoughtful recommendations KRKBAB, GuitarDoc, Mr. B, Gibson175 and MetalMachine!

Hey! I made a joke, but I gave a recommendation too. =)
Metallica Kill Em All tones were a Duncan Distortion. That was my recommendation for you before I knew you wanted those tones even. DD is my favorite Duncan pickup. It was my first and still my all time favorite.
