    There's a special place in hell for c0ck tease Icemen.
    For him who struck thy foreign string,
    I ween this heart hath ceased to care;
    Then why dost thou such feelings bring
    To my sad spirit - old Guitar?

    Even so, Guitar, thy magic tone
    Hath moved the tear and waked the sigh;
    Hath bid the ancient torrent moan
    Although its very source is dry.

    That is a beautiful cardboard box, one of the nicest I've seen. It's got that lightly relic'd look of a world-weary, well-travelled look of a quality box that has seen it's share of postal tours, trucks and vans, depots etc. It has that certain patina of a box that has plyed it's trade across the land from coast to coast for many years, and i can almost smell the cardboard.

    How does it feel in the hands ? Is it corrugated ? Double corrugated ? It certainly looks like a box you can take anywhere and use in many applications. I'll be enthusiastically awaiting your review.

    Well, I've had a chance to look at/play/drool over the new (old) guitar that has just arrived. Its my most mature Gibson yet....a 1980 Les Paul Deluxe. Not much of the hardware is original, but the wood is and thats the main thing. There are no breaks etc, and it looks like very little wear for a 32 year old guitar....just some worming on the back and a few chip off the lacquer on the back/bottom edge.

    It seems to have aged nicely. The inlays have yellowed a bit, the rosewood has that antique sheen that you just can't fake and the binding (and all plastics) have yellowed nicely

    That's very kewl indeed ... nice score. What is it about the nut ? It looks a little strange, like i'm seeing some metal or something in it.

    The sound of the p90s in this guitar is quite different to them in the 60's tribute's (LP and SG) that I have. The solid body and maple neck give a real midsy focus to the tone....and its great!!
    I had though to replace the p90's with original mini's for a more authentic Norlin look, but I'm happy with the tones I'm getting so far.

    It seems a real player too. Straight away I was rip-roaring through some bluesy and rock leads, and reveling in crunchy chords. The pickups are supposedly a Sheptone and a Wolfetone......so there's some real high quality custom winds.

    Oh, thats a bone nut, but the dirty section probably has a weird reflection from the lights to look metallic.

    Colour is Oxblood, its quite hard to tell from the shots as fluro lighting at night isn't the best for photography.

    Nice, it looks real cool with the P90's I'd leave it be! Nice score.

    Just having another look, I thought the Norlin era lost some of the carve yet that looks real nice. Looks like it's had a refret with bigger frets? Black LP's just look so badass!

    LOL!!! Im sure the snobs over at LPF pay top dollar for a good vintage 1959 box!! I personally hate the boxes that a pre reliced. I prefer a box that is genuinely worn from road and warehouse duty..
    Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.

    Nice score - I'd rock that! (if it was right-handed.....)

    I love the look of a black LP with P-90s. Or an oxblood LP

    Congratulations!

    Why are there two extra screw holes in the pickguard?

    No idea about the extra holes....well there are two holes in the body too. I'd say someone got sick of having the pickguard at the wrong height so decided to fix it to the body out of the way. Not a bad job as things go. The holes are bevelled quite neatly.

    Yes....its oxblood. The original pics were taken at night, this is one in the sun and with the camera set for vivid colour. My cat also wanted in on the action.

    Nice guitar but it looks like one of those Kalamazoo drunks put it together backwards.
