    Default Tele Assembly Done

Ive had this Tele laying around for what seems like Eternity, and have had a Mental block about about drilling the tuner holes, and neck screwholes, for fear of failure I guess.
Well last night I drilled the tuner holes without incident, and affixed the neck to the body to drill the holes.
Today I went and picked up a 1/8" drill bit to drill the screwholes, and got home and drilled them. At first thought It looks like I was a little off alignment, but after I did a preliminary set up, it came together almost dead center. I think thats a first for me..I guess all that experience and past failure has taught me a little I hope..I also , I wasn't drinking.

    Heres the pics of the procedure, and how I aligned the neck for drilling;

So then here it is. 30 year old air dried Swamp Ash body I got off Ebay for 140.00 that was already finished.
Mighty Mite neck I sprayed and fret leveled myself. Glendale Bridge. Still need to drill and install string trees.
Old 70's PAF in the neck. Switch needs replacing, but its playing now.
Neck tight in the pocket and screwed in tight as can possibly be.
Preliminary results are very encouraging, both tone-wise and also concerning playability.

EDIT- STOCK teles don't do metal. I mean, you *could take a bath using the sink, but isnt a bathtub a little more appropriate..in general I mean.. if you catch my drift.

    Cool man.

Isn't it weird how not being wasted is sometimes a good thing? I just noticed this recently and have been pleasantly surprised by the results.

Thanks for comments everyone. Would like to see those projects Jocelyn, I'm sure a lot of us would. Yep, I dont think not drinking for three days and getting this project done is a coincidence. I find I'm beginning to take on almost human like characteristics.
I was wrong about playability though.., unless string trees I have ordered help , which I dont think they will, its gonna need some more extensive fret work; its fretting out badly. but I'm glad I got the neck on straight.
I think I might go to a pro to get the fret work done, seeing as how this'll be one of my two teles probably for life, so not much chance of ever parting it out.
Also, I'm having bad luck with the Hipshot lockers. This is my second set, and it seems they are the same- you relly got to wrench down that button like mad to get the strings to lock..I'll probably get a set of Schallers.

That looks really great, man. Nice work. I love the grain on that body.

Every love that made me lose my reasoning. Every chord that made my conscience ache. Every day spent counting hours. Well, none of them comes close to singing back a song inside my head.

    I remember calloused hands and paint-stained jeans, and I remember safe-as-houses self-belief.

Nice! Very similar to my tele. I also have an old swamp body, mighty mite neck, locking tuners, etc.

A DiMarzio from the 70s perhaps. They had a "PAF" model, commonly used in the neck position with a Super Distortion in the bridge.
