    Default Problem with basslines

    Hello. I bought Basslines pickups SPB-2 and SSJB2-B. Somebody wired it for me with this diagram (http://www.seymourduncan.com/support...c=jass_bass_sp) But there is a problem, one part of PB pickup doesn't work at all :/ If you could tell me what mistake could cause this problem i would be very grateful. I don't know if I should send back those pickups as damaged or try to wired it with another diagram :/ Thank you very much

    It works now. We replaced ground wire with wire which connects two halfs of PB pup. I don't know why it works now and doesn't work then cause I'm totally noob in electronic stuff. Could you tell if Basslines are for Seymour like Squier for Fender? Cause i bought it as a Seymour Duncan not a Basslines. But today i've heard it is like squier for fender...

    Hey Watly:

    Welcome to the forum. I'm glad you got your bass back up and running. How do you like the tone?

    We used to brand our bass pickups "Seymour Duncan," but after doing some market research, we decided to create a brand that had "bass" in the name and that's how "Basslines" was born. All Basslines pickups are made in our Santa Barbara, California factory by the same artisans who also make Seymour Duncan pickups. They are not a lower or "junior" like like Squier or Duncan Designed.

    I hope that helps.

    Sound of these pickups is amazing and I really like it but this half of PB pup still sometimes work and sometimes not... It's annoying. I wonder too why if turn down to 0 Master Tone my bass stop playing. I can't post pictures now but i can post it later.

    Seems to me that you have several wiring issues going on.

    For one half of a "split" P Bass pickup to work reliably whilst the other is intermittent suggests the following;
    1) The coil from which the output conductor comes is working correctly.
    2) The connection between the two coils may be physically damaged. (Inspect the strands of the insulated conductor wire where they disappear into the solder joints.)
    3) The working coil is still being grounded somehow.

    Classic issues with the P Bass pickup installation include;
    1) Screwing through the insulation of the pickup conductor wire(s).
    2) Crimping the pickup conductor wires between the pickup cover and the cavity edge.
    3) Shorting out against the brass screening plate (vintage replica basses and pickups only).

    If the tone control is acting as an overall volume control, it must be wired incorrectly. Is the capacitor grounded correctly?

    As LtKojak says, photographs of your actual wiring will provide the clues to help solve your specific problem.

    Half of PB pup (THIS ONE WITH GROUND WIRE NOT SIGNAL WIRE, my bad) works for most time but sometimes it has no signal but if I touch and move a little it has signal again... :/ He told me today that he wired it with this diagram, not this one I wrote you in first post http://www.bonf.net/wp-content/uploa...3/j_series.gif Here are photos:

    Well, the capacitor in the last photograph explains why your tone control does not operate correctly.

    The intermittent coil on the P Bass has to be something to do with the link wire between the two coils. (Photos of underside of P pickup, please.) The only other explanation is a weak solder joint on the pickup bobbin soldering eye.

    One broken coil should silence the entire pickup because this would interrupt the path to ground.

    DC resistance meter readings on the individual coils of the P Bass pickup might help.
