    Default Tricked out my Strat

    Before:

    After:

Got a Super Vee Bladerunner for my strat about a month ago. Haven't really messed with it much until I traded the pickups that came in the guitar (Bareknuckle Irish Tours) for a set of Fralin SP-42's. Now that I've got the both the pickups and the bridge in this guitar, I'm loving it even more. The Super Vee is a great piece of hardware. This guitar really needs a new nut and some fretwork, but in spite of that, this bridge stays in tune MUCH better than the last one during tremolo use. And I've even got it set up slightly floating! I can't wait to get this in to a luthier to see how it preforms when the guitar's at its optimum condition.

I'll give a full impression of the Fralins within the next few days, but I've spent a week with them and I can definitely say that they're ****in' awesome. They're supposed to sound like P-90's on a Strat bobbin, and while they're not 100% accurate, they sound excellent.

All in all, me's a happy.

Nice. That's a really cool guitar.

Do you still have that old Peavey Esquire thing?
Every love that made me lose my reasoning. Every chord that made my conscience ache. Every day spent counting hours. Well, none of them comes close to singing back a song inside my head.

    I remember calloused hands and paint-stained jeans, and I remember safe-as-houses self-belief.

I do, but I don't use it. It's got no pickups at the moment, and I don't have any short-term or long-term plans for it. When I get my tax return next year, I plan on basically doing this:

But in sonic blue or surf green and with a P-90 neck.

looked up that Bladerunner;Thats really some great technology. He said the tension could be adjusted, is that on the arm itself, or the entire tremolo?
    Nice Axe BTW.

I'm pretty sure they're meaning the arm tension is adjustable. I don't see how you can adjust spring steel unless I'm completely missing something. I'd like to put on of these on my American Standard.

Are you sure it's not because your guitar was finally intonated properly? hehe

I'd say J/K, but your first pic is a guitar outta whack!

Could be. I thought I checked the intonation a few times, but I could be wrong.

The guitar definitely needs a new nut and fretwork though. Can't wait to get it done and have this guitar live up to its full potential.

The bridge is wonderful. The arm is screw in, but the tension is adjustable, which I like a lot. The whole unit is quality. If you're used to the feel of a Strat vibrato, it's going to take a bit of getting used to, as the difference in construction causes a stiffer feel for the vibrato. I got used to it in an hour or so though, and I actually like it more.

The bridge itself sounds great. I'm going to get one in black and put it on my other strat when I get some spare cash.

Care to compare/contrast the BKP Irish Tours with the Fralin SP 42s? I realize that they are different animals, but I'm interested in why you switched.
