Default Jonesing for a new Distortion pedal...

I love the Catalinbread Super Charged Overdrive, it's just awesome!
However, while it can get pretty raucus and heavy, it isn't exactly 'metal'

I've been looking for something, I just don't know what....

Metal Muff w/ Top Boost is a personal favorite. Could always get that.

Duncan Mayhem is a similar option it appears. Don't have a Duncan pedal.

The Joyo US Dream seems like an awesome budget version of the Suhr riot. I'm all about price/performers.

The Proco Rat. Haven't had one since there was only one! Don't remember it as all that metal though, but pretty cool, for the time.

Anyone know about the Modtone Speedbox? Saw a cool vid on YouTube. Uber Cheap!

Or, perhaps the Rivera Metal Shaman. A tad pricey, but sounds awesome.

But what am I perhaps overlooking? What is out that that can take me from metal, to heavy metal to whatever...

I've got my bases covered for boost to TS9 to TS9+ stuff, to general 80's Distortion boxes, to my Catalinbread.

Throw some stuff at me, and keep it UNDER 150 new (or used on the bay).

As Metal as necessary. I would like to be able to go from say Maiden/Priest to Stupid Metal.

My current Lineup in rough order:

    1. MXR Micro Amp
    2. Ibanez TS-9
    3. Stamps Drive-O-Matic
    4. Catalinbread Supercharged Overdrive
    5. Washburn Stack In A Box
    6. Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal

Something that starts at 4/5/6 and goes from there.

I just picked up a couple of (chinese) Moen pedals (why not get 2...or 3 for the price of one.. ) ...a "Distortion Master" & "Violent Metal".

They have some great sounding pedals, most of them around the $50-60 mark .
There's a real tube (low plate voltage) pedal that I'm looking at right now as well....the "Raw tube" or something.. it's small & neat, the size of an average pedal... & apparently has a smooth, sweet Eric Johnson kind of tone. For $75 it's worth a try.
The CNC machines don't care what country they happen to be residing in..

Becasue you can get one for 40 bucks. Its built like a 6'2" 260 pound Nebraska farm girl, and it goes from modded British Distortion to "i'm on bath Salts and I'm going to get naked, drive my car into some pylons, and then chew your face up" distortion.

I like the Slow Century from OLC. It's a JFet preamp version of the SLO. Def worth a look and not badly priced either. The AMT pedals sound pretty good to and I think they are a little cheaper if you can find a place that carries them. If not, you'll have to order direct from Russia.

Here's a link to the Slow Century.

My favorite distortion pedal I have ever played through or owned was actually a fuzz box. One of the old green muffs. I'm sure someone had modded it or maybe it was just an older different model because I have had other old green Big Muffs and none sounded like this one. I kick myself for ever selling it. Bought it in a pawnshop for $25 and sold it for $50 when $50 was top dollar on them.

Yup! Better for classic Marshall sounds. Maxed out, it gets a semi-convincing Slayer tone.
