Default Installing Alnico-IIs in LP Standard 2012

    Hi guys...
I hope that someone can help me...

I was looking all over the web, and I couldn't find a single thing about installing a par of Alnico II Pro Slash APH-2 in a Les Paul Standard 2012 using a LIBERATOR.
I am worse than bad in soldering. And since the Seymour Duncan came out with a Liberator I really want to switch pickups and put APH-2s in an LP. But the problem is that the ''geniuses'' at Gibson made the switching on the 2012 Les Pauls more complicated than with regular LPs, they've put push-pull pots, coil splitting, etc,etc... (anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about can see the whole electronics specification of a 2012 LP on a Gibson website ).

    So... My question is:

Has anyone installed a pair of Alnico IIs (or similar humbucker-humbucker set) using a LIBERATOR in a 2012 LP???

Does that mean, that I will have to change ALL the pots, because the goal is to have a default 2 volume 2 tone set WITHOUT those push pull, coil splitting fancy things ?

    Thanks in advance!!!
    Cheers

Just solder them, it's like 5 minutes work.

Take two pieces of metal and solder them until you like what you see. Then take what you learned and solder the pickups. If you don't want or can't use the push/pull pots then you'll have to replace them with regular pots, you will have to solder those. Option B is spend a sh!t load of $$ to have someone do a super easy job.

    Option C:

Switch to EMG pickups, like with all my other guitars, because when they say SOLDERLESS it actually IS SOLDERLESS , even when changing all the pots, tone or volume!!!!

    Cheers.

I think soldering should be a prerequisite to playing guitar. It keeps you from spending $200 when it's a 5 cent problem. That's just me though.

No one is stopping you from it. It's a great system if you never want to change pickup brands, pot brands/values etc.

Your snippy response indicates that the core of the issue isn't your soldering ability rather your work ethic or lack thereof.
You'll use it, boy, and as long as you hate using it, you will use it more wisely than most men would. Wait. If ever you don't hate it any longer, then will be the time to throw it as far as you can and run the other way.”

Don't the 2012 Gibson's have the PCB electronics??

If so you'll have to pull the whole thing and re wire the whole guitar...

As for guitarmayhems remarks...not a great second post my man...

FWIW, the solderless EMG system was a PITA and soldering is much quicker and less complicated and MUCH stronger. I swear the newer mini pots EMG uses fail. I have a Jackson with an old pair and larger 25K pots. Works great. Two new sets of emgs I've gotten have had bad pots.

That was enough for me lol.
