A few names came up like knuckle dusters, and other references to brass knuckles, so gauntlet isn't far off (especially considering some medieval gauntlets, apparently, had the equivalent of brass knuckles in the glove).

The original pickup was intended to be a neck pickup capable of handling a lot of gain while still sounding open and natural in a 24 fretter. Steel Mitten of DooMz might not be a bad alternative: the SWD SMD

I was not aware of that. Good point. For the fun of it, then!

haha, when I meant names for the PU I meant serious names.

I've been on the board eons ago with a different name. I got bored of hearing everyone boast their ego's about electronics and decided to leave for a while. Now I'm back

I'm all for cheesy names, but I think there has to be a better one out there than The Gauntlet. I suggested a few a ways back. Others have suggested some as well. The Gauntlet is cute, I guess, but I don't think it does anything to describe the pickup. The pickup reminds me more of a set of braces, with the rail and the PA poles. It doesn't seem reminiscent of an armored glove at all.

However, the one fellow has a point. If M.J. has traditionally named the forum pickups (I didn't know that), then I would vote that she should name this one as well. She's making it for us when she doesn't have to at all, so the least we can do is let her name it.

Back in violation of the one user/multiple accounts rule, and already acting like a prick to people, MJ included, within a few posts. Take a chill pill, mang. We're having a good time here; we don't need some ****head showing up out of left field and dropping a turd in our punchbowl.

Who were you before? I find it strange someone would voluntarily leave and then slink back undetected. Sounds shady even if true.

Guys, let's all chill, it would be pretty bad if a thread dedicated to a group effort ended up needing moderation.

As for the name, regardless of whatever we think up of, MJ has named every past bucker, the BroBucker, Crazy 8, the StraBro90 and now will be this. It's tradition and it is one that is meant as a way to give recognition to the one that actually makes our whacky schemes into actual, cool-sounding reality.

Should I put up a poll for the name?

I've been away from this for a few days, so I don't know what all the suggestions have been...

Lots of suggestions, way too many to put in a poll, plus, a lot of us feel that like in all the past pus, MJ should be the one to choose a name.

That said, the most common ones (barring names like the fuglybucker etc) were the gauntlet and the railgun. There are A LOT more however and the fact of the matter is that the times a name was mentioned doesn't really translate to most popular really...

Dunno man, wait a little for a couple more posts to test the waters and see. At the very least we should have some way of choosing the names that should go on the poll instead of putting EVERY suggestion in. That would give too big of a pool... That or make multiple polls like semi-finals or sth...
