Dig the Rails B twang. Not sure about some of the other tones ... and you know how much I like a Duncan P90.

I really love the idea behind this pickup, how does a matched set work in practice? Does the bridge jive with, say, a Rectifier for some modern metal? I really want to try a pair of these, and I play enough Progressive/Instrumental Rock that it's probably worth it, but I play -a lot- of Metal too. Anything from Iron Maiden (used to have Hot Rails in a strat, this was amazing) to really chug heavy Iced Earth, or Dream Theater where there are cleanly voiced chords in between your heavy chugging powerchords.

Based on that, is the P-Rails something I should be interested in?

Absolutely! P-Rails is the most versatile pup set and has great sounds. The P-90 in the P-Rails is my favorite pup by far. I have a pair of P-Rails in my #1 guitar and play the P-90 at least 90% of the time. The rail and series get some action and, rarely, the parallel gets some too.

So for the p-rails in particular, if I want the full range of options, is there a specific way to wire them, say, in a two humbucker guitar? I assume I need a 5 way switch, and do the rails in the p-rails sound comparable to what the hot rails sound like?

    Professor Gadget is happy!
    I have found my thrill.
A good guitar is now an awesome tone machine.
I have put P-Rails in my Godin Freeway SA. (Synth Access) (picture attached)
I used the triple shots and they are working great.
I have a load of pickup selections and tone.
Sounds great through my Mashall JMV-410H stack and my Egnator Renegade and Marshall 1962 2x12 cabinet for smaller gigs.
Very simple to wire with the triple shot.
Took about an hour and a half to install and wire.

    Thanks

Only suggestion I would make is to reverse the bridge P-Rail so that the Rail is next to the bridge instead of the P-90. Doesn't change the sound of the P-90 at all, but makes the Rail sound more like a Strat pup (as you've got it, the Rail and P-90 don't sound a heck of alot different from each other. The Rail sounds a bit thinner, for sure, but the tone is too similar to the P-90).

I have to be honest, the bridge tone didn't really do anything for me, but the middle and neck tones ABSOLUTELY ROCKED!!!

I wonder if the P-Rails Hot would fix that trebly, weak tone the bridge had and would better match the ballsy tone of the middle and neck positions...

I am also seriously contemplating of building a SuperTele to put them in, I really liked that twangy tone when paired to a P-90 (of course it would have to have the tummy/elbow cuts and a tremolo, prolly a Floyd of sorts... Know any good builder for parts? )
