I insured all of my musical equipment last April for right around $200. I felt so relieved after I did. I wasn't worried about it being stolen. My main worry was tornadoes. I figured $200 per year wasn't bad at all for around $46,000 worth of replacement costs.

Hope you have a permit and safety training for..... Those Mashalls

Because the retail guy will either give a value they'd pay to you as used gear or what they'd sell it to you for as new gear. They won't do sentimental value or care that your serial numbers are a factor.

Hey, nice Super Reverb back there! Original or RI?
I've got a separate rider on my home insurance for my gear (which is all cataloged and photographed). I did that last year. I told my broker about how much stuff I had and they explained that there's category limits for replacement which would not cover everything I had. So... yeah. Good idea if you have a bunch of stuff to discuss it with your insurance broker.

I see how this works. You got insurance against your Marshalls getting shot by a Smith and Wesson then went home to shoot yer amp. The only thing that confuses me is the figure of $500 ... surely a replacement amp will cost more than that ?
