Default Saving up for a good high end american guitar, what would you choose?

for the past few years I've been buying and selling a lot of mid-grade guitars, between the $300-800 range. I found a few I love (my esp), and some I couldn't stand, like that Fender Custom Tele HH. Point is, over the past few years with all the switching I've done, I could have bought one or two good american guitars. I play a wide variety of music, I'm a jazz and classical student and also play a lot of hard rock and metal. Everything gets mixed together at some point in my playing. Take a look at the poll and see what I'm considering. I'm going to save up over the next year and just go and buy one. Rules: it needs to have a bridge humbucker at least. I learn towards hard tails, I use the trem once in a a while, but I never do any crazy trem wanking, not my thing. I HATE floyd rose bridges but like the wilkinsons and I'm not familiar with the feel of the fender ones.

I should also add that I'm leaning toward a strat. My ESP takes care of all my Les Paul needs. That's one phenomenal guitar. But I wouldn't mind having a nice Gibson

oh, and a reasonable price range for me would be $800-$1,200. I still don't see any reason to ever have to pay more than that for a good instrument. I know there may not even be any PRS models in that range but I wanted to see what people thought anyway, maybe if the extra cost would really be worth it.

that's the one I've been leaning towards, but I've got some time to make up my mind. Seems a great all around axe.

Although I am a fan of fender startocasters, I'd probably get a 24 cu Prs. You can play many different musical styles, and the quality of PRS guitars are great.

i gotta go with an ernie ball, better than any gibson or fender i have played, and a small company that stays in touch with the consumers. they don't say 'contact your dealer' for every question. i'll always go for a smaller company rather than a larger one.

If you would have asked me a few months back I would have said a Fender MIA, however, I've had a total change of heart within the last few months after I played a Gibson Les Paul. So I'm gonna go with a Gibson Les Paul..... I know I'm a trader.... hehe...... By the way, the LP in my avatar is on layaway and will officially be mine in a month.......

    Xeromus,
I'd at least check out the EB Silhouettes.
Unfortunately they don't come with SDs, but that can be remedied.
