    Default Doobie Brothers Jam

I know many of you people have wondered what it would sound like if I grew out my mutton chops, wore bell bottoms, and played in the Doobie Brothers.

Well, that time is over! Now you can listen to this clip and move on to more productive things: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/tw...ysseymusic.htm

This was a really fun tune to jam over. Cheers to Rid for the killer backing track!!

    Thanx

I think it's high time we had another forum jam, now that we have some fresh blood, as well so many great contributors on board now.

LOL, I was hoping to hear the break down on Jesus Is Alright. Great stuff, finally someone is bringing the Doobs into the next milenium. I have been crying about this for years as I try to fall asleep pondering the things that could be done to make to world a better place. I finally get to check that one off the list!

TO, Great shot at it, bro! I especially liked the legato treatment at approx 2:00. Also, liked the funky-ish rhythm guitar, which is something I struggle to master. All that studio time has improved your recorded guitar sound. The lead sound is better than I remember from some of your other impromptu jams.

So, "What a Fool Believes" is next?

Also, Damn nice avatar you got there. It fits you to a T.

    Thanx, Matt
The legato sections are me trying to keep up with the changes in the chords! lol
As for the tone on this one: I didn't use my usual jam setup, which is the Korg PXR4. I'm still using my lead sound from the album. (My own little creation in the VG88, called "TO Lead" ... sick tone when used with the Demon, huh? ) So that will give you a LITTLE hint of what the finished lead tone on the album will be like ...
On the solo clips I've posted, those are all bone dry. Fer this song all I did was add a TOUCH of Lexicon verb ... so, you can imagine how cool the album's lead tones are gonna be!!

As for the avatar ... thanx! After all, I stole it from YOU!!

Well, if anyone ever wonder why I'm a fan of TO's playing, this pretty much sums it all up. Amazing. Talent and creativity is a potent mixture.

Awesome man! I've been away for a while and I'm now searching for an inspiring track to get back on track. Even if your so much better than I am, you always make me want to play more. And that's great!

Excellent tone on this one Twilight. It seems to have the guitar pushed upfront in the mix a little bit more than your usual stuff, which I like

I'm not usually a huge fan of twin guitar harmonies but this has a very 'tasty' quality. I sounds like your really in your element

    Thanx, Inter!
This really isn't my element, but the backing track is so infectious, and sounds like so much fun, it's difficult not having a blast soloing over this song!! The stacked "Vai" harmony part is the only real "TO" section in the whole song, imo ... Glad you liked it!!

Nice job, man. Great tone, good licks, and the super-slow pick scrape in there was a great touch.

Yeah, Davey and I had the same idea of panning the pick scrape, but that was just too much work for a lazy butt like myself!
