I think the custom 5 is a safe bet, you can get it from musiciansfriend If you want to save money look on ebay, you can win one for cheap or make an offer for one that is full price, you might get one for like $60-65 if the seller is desperate, I do this all the time. Search the duncan trading post too.
Also, read up on magnet swapping, specifically the A4 and A8, those are some cool options if you want to further customize your custom.

What a coincidence, I was browsing netmusicians.org and some dude with a hamer usa studio, custom 5 posted a full song. This is not a quality recording by any stretch of the imagination but thought I'd post it anyway.

    Try http://www.wymoreguitars.com.

Best On-Line Duncan dealer EVER. He's closing down and have nice Duncan inventory to a discounted price.

Shot John an e-mail asking for a discount coupon, you won't regret it! I can vouch for him as a satisfied customer.

The C5 is awesome in LP Style guitars. It's almost like it was made to go in a short scale, mahogany/maple top guitar.
If you play mostly rhythm and chords, definitley try the C5.
It's big, beefy, and will push a tube amp nicely, and it still retains a somewhat vintage voice.
