Judging by your username, I'd say the Classic 30 is too tame for the tones you're looking for. It's original intent is a good blues/roots rock amp. Not metal.
You can't go wrong with the Valvetronix amps, when it comes to everyday practice rigs. Despite the retro look, they deliver better metal tones than almost any amp in it's class. Using one of the overdrive models in front of the Rectifier model will give you killer distortion, even at low bedroom volumes. Plus, they have headphones and recording outs. Buy one used from the Ventura edition of Recycler.com, when one pops up.

gearjoneser is right. plus, if your not looking for just metal tones, the vox can do it. itll cover all of your needs just fine.
