GNX3 : Should I put down the money for it?

Hey. I was just at my music shop today and I decided to try out the Digitech GNX3 they had on the floor. I fell in love with the thing and I like a lot of the effects. I'm really thinking of picking one up, but I am not widely-experienced in the realm of processors. I intend to use the GNX3 for its recording abilities because I don't have a band and I want to be able to layer my own recordings on top of one another. I wouldn't do much live work; primarily home recordings.

The question is, is there any other processor that allows me to record in the same way as the GNX3 that I should look at before putting the money down? Please help me out ASAP. Thank you.
