    Default stupid question

in a rails type pup (hot rails, cool rails, etc), are the rails the actual magnets, or are they positioned elsewhere? Also, if the answer is the latter, is it possible to change the magnet to something else? thanks

I thought I'd give you a "bump", since this made it back to page three.

However, I'm pretty sure that the rails are not the magnets.

The magnet is a single bar magnet glued to the underside of the pickup. Good question, BTW. Lew

The "Rails" have a ceramic mag UNDER the pickup.
If the rails itself are also a magnet
    i don't know.

so if there is a way to remove the magnet, it is possible to change it, right?

    *goes and checks*

interesting, my hotrail now has a sizeable magnet hanging off one of the rails.. i wouldnt say they were the primary magnet in the pickup, but the field the rail gives off feels way too strong to be an induced one..

bump, has anyone taken a hotrail apart?
