question about a Twangbanger...

thought about using a conversion ring to mount a twangbanger in my les paul classic....any thoughts?

I have done something similar but with a StagMag. Ussing one of each coils, two baseplates and two nickel covers I've made two strat humbucker sized single coils that were nickel covered. Toose were installed in my Guild S-100 (SG body) and I definetely loved the results. They gave me a sharper, punchier, treblier-yet-warm tone, and the nickel covers still provided some protection agains hum. In trade you loose that warm deep tone typical of humbucker equiped mahogany guitars. Since the bridge model was located were the screw coil should be the tone was too thin clean so I ended replacing it. I still have the neck and it's going to stay for a while.

Since the twangbanger is supposed to be a warm high output pickup that will help to tame the highs a bit. The results can be amazing...
