    Default pbass wiring info please

hey folks, ive got a cheezy plywood epiphone bass which, judging by the p bass body and jackson style headstock, was made in the 80s or 90s. i have to buy a few parts for it and since i cant afford to get a new pickup for it im just gunna use the one i got with it. the pickup is a split single coil p bass pickup with two wires coming out of each pickup. one half of the pickup has a long black wire and a short red one whereas the other half has the opposite thing going. i have no clue which one is hot or ground or where to solder the wires together. the only other useful info is that the ground wire coming from the bridge is red. also, does it matter which way the pickup is configured?

the two parts arent connected? bummer

if you wire them wrong it wont be humcancelling so might be kinda noisy. my guess is to connect the two short wires
