Very cool, that's going to fetch some serious cash.

Sorry if I'm ignorant, but who is Tommy Shannon?

I'm not sure if he's hurtin' for cash, but I would think he'd keep that sucker til he was dead...or know someone that could use a special guitar.
I would think he & Chris Layton would be in pretty high demand. They are one of the baddest rhythm sections EVER!!!![]()

I'm not totally convinced that's the case.Originally Posted by Scott_F
As much as I respect SRV and Double Trouble as a second-rate celeb auction this one's kind of pushing it. The guitar was never owned by SRV. It was never played by SRV. Pretty much everyone in the band got one more out of being polite and FMIC bringing enough candy for everyone.
To me the association doesn't merit anywhere near as much money as it will bring in. And for a guy who played on a stage with the "real deal" night after night I'm not convinced there's any emotional attachment there.
If I found a Strat that had been given to me and I had no reason to hang onto it and I thought I could get some money for it I'd unload it on eBay. How's Tommy Shannon so different?

I guess I am just somewhat of a skeptic, but do you guys think that is really Tommy Shannon or a poser sitting in a hut somewhere in Timbuktu with a pic of Tommy playing an SRV Strat? Some of those guys are slick. Just my two cents worth of skepticism.
I get weak in the knees at the sight of a vintage Fender amp!

Maybe Tommy's not that dumb. It's possible that he's got about 6 of those things, plus he's just parting with some old gear he doesn't use anymore. Everyone assumes these guys are millionaires, but it's probably far from the truth. Storyville didn't exactly burn up the charts.

I checked the feedback... nothing fishy about it IMO. Everything looks legit.Originally Posted by B Bent
