Default 2X12 Cab For My Valvetronix Vox Head?

What do you guys recommend for me in a 2x12 cab for my 120 watt Vox Valvetronix head?

I need lots of tight low end balls and mids correct for my blues/classic rock styles in a Marshall type tone with the mids....

The option of being able to use either open or closed back would be cool also...I Love an open back cab for playing clean, but I like it closed for gainy driving stuff for projection and tight crunchy cutting tones....

So far I've been looking at...(I'll need 2- 8 ohm speakers and I'll have to have the ability to wire for stereo....The Vox head has stereo outs for 8 ohms per side..

    Avatar 2x12.....V30 and G12H-30
    Carvin Legacy 2x12...V30s...
    Budda Phat 2x12
Vox Valvetronix 2x12(Don't know if I Like the Neodyium Celestions though)?

    What do you guys think?

i know both celestion & eminence make modeling speakers, may be an option

but for you i'd say the avatar, 2 v30's wouldn't give you enough ballsy bottom end, but one v30 would give you the mids & the other should keep up the bottom end

Thanks Drew.....Are you saying using 1 Emminence and 1 V30 then?

    Or 1 V30 and 1 G12H-30?

    the v30/g12h30

as of right now my favorite speaker of all time is an eminence, but it's eq'd like a sd '59, so i don't think it'd work for you, plus, it's real loose

I love both of these speakers and I'd think having both the V30/G12H-30 sharing a cabinet together would be the bomb?

Any ideas on the quality of the Avatar cabinets? The price is just too good to be true?

you should try texas heats perhaps. Tons of headroom, but with a tad of upper mid bite, wont fart out on you.

I'd probably get the Avatar 2-12 with Vin 30 and H30, but have them do the grillcloth in solid black. Unless you match the grillcloth of the head, you may as well have the whole cab in solid black, just for a better look.

I really don't mind the looks as much with the cab,as long as the cab has the tone...

Check out the Vox. The Neo's rock. Plus they match your head's cosmetics. Check out the floor model at Sam Ash.

Will do...I'm actually starting to lean towards the matching Vox 2x12 cab...Are these the "vintage Neos" in this cab?

i bet you could get an avatar with the vox speakers & it'd still be cheaper, they can get anything from eminence or celestion

If you find that you like the Vox cabinet talk to the asst. manager Paul over at guitar center in Tampa. He sold me mine for $400. thats $50. cheaper than I have seen anywhere else. The manual says these speakers are newly designed customVox/celestion Neodymium magnet speakers, so I don't think they are vintage.
