There is no "Van Halen" model pickup. There is the Evenly Voiced Harmonics model from the custom shop, which is very similar in specs to what Eddie was using back then. This may or may not have been done on purpose. There is no relationship or business deal between Eddie and Seymour.

The pickup measures around 9.2k, with an alnico 2 magnet and no wax potting. It gets really good reviews, but I've never tried one. I had one for a while, but I never got around to starting the project guitar I had intended to use the pickup with, so I ended up selling it. They cost $160 through the Duncan custom shop.

I just read a review about it in a magazine. Got the thumbs up. It is however something you will have to ask for through the custom shop, as I understand.

I'll try to find the review, and post it later.

I have one in my Les Paul currently. It will probably not stay there. It does just as promised, nails that certain sound from 1978. It is more present in the mids and highs than in the bass, which is considtent with that sound. It covers a lot of classic rock and 80's rock tones very well. It's more versital than that, but you get the idea.

It's not quite right in a les paul, so I'll either move it to annother guitar or move on.
