actually i think the duncan distortion is way hotter , if i use my les paul with the distortion on the bridge i have to lower the gain on the amp , and whn i use my schecter with the emg's i have to crank the gain to get killer distortion

You'll find that alot of what people say about EMG is nothing but perpetuated myths and exagerations.

what kind of EMG are you using? Cause really unless you have it installed wrong, an EMG will always be hotter in terms of output but maybe not to your ears. They definately have a cleaner sound and I think sometimes people mistake that for a less powerful tone.

I've been saying this for a long while. They simply aren't as hot as a DD, at all. They pack about the same punch as a Custom or C5, to me.

I haven't played EMGs much, but have always associated them with real heavy sounds. Do they make any vintage sounding stuff?

BTW guys we are all guitar geeks with the same interest and nobody wants to read through threads with fellow guitar bros cursing each other. CHILL!!
I get weak in the knees at the sight of a vintage Fender amp!

I've actully been really interested in emgs lately. But I'de always heard they were super high output. But now that someone that ACTULLY USES THEM has said sumthing. I'm far less hesitant to try them. So thanks for the posting.

and Btw, Its really lame when people start giveing eachother crap over they're choice in pickups. Tone is a personal thing. So if ya got a problem with sumone else's idea of good tone. To bad. Keep your mouth shut.

But I guess its kinda dumb to expect a 15 year old (Erlend_G) to be anything other than hostile and idiotic.

I resent that remark. Age has close to nothing to do with hostility or logic.

You know i have noticed that you do seem very mature for your age. It's refreshing to see that. Keep rockin bro.

Yeah, that is pretty true. Its more a matter of maturity. I mean theres just as many people in they're fiftys like that kid as there are people close ta your age like that kid. The human race is pretty hostile and illogical in general. So yer right, I probably shouldn't have placed ya in the same catigory as that lame kid.
So sorry. No offence intended towards you. I just tend to get irritated when people get all "My opinion is better than yours" on stuff.
So yet again, Sorry about that. I certainly wouldn't wanna imply that all kids your age are like that. And thats not what I was trying to mean. But it came out sounding that way. So sorry, no offence intended ta kids your age.....Ed

One of the nice things about them is that they don't loose top end as you roll off the volume, so you can massivly reduce their output without changing their sound.

Buying something because it was your money isn't a reasonable explanation as to why you bought something you did. To use myself as an example, I bought the DD because I wanted better tone to play heavier and crunchier riffs, because that's my style of playing.

But despite, ole Earley there should've kept his mouth shut, lol.

But you know what Low Fidelity? By throwing your personal attacks (you started them, btw) you bring yourself down to his level in this thread. Why bother? You just show the rest of this forum how you react in the light of off-colour comments. Poorly.

Btw, for the record, the guys said sh*t to Erlzey. Not meaning to start up a fight, I personally don't think his response was appropriate at all. Just pointing it out that it wasn't completely random.
