Default Les Paul + Crate VFX5112 tube combo

This is my buddy Dave Testa playing a Les Paul through my Crate tube combo at about mid gain or so. Late night studio improv jam. Figured some of you guys might want to hear the amp. It sounds a little harsh because of the way it was EQ'ed and because we used a condenser mic instead of an SM57 on it.

"it is a really hard song. it has like 3 different power chords in it. i just learned what power chords are, i thought it was the thing from your amp that you plug in to the wall."

Now I know what you mean when you say it does Marshall better than Marshall. Aside from the harshness you described, it sounds great! I'd love to hear it in a more hi-gain setting, though.

Well I won't have access to the studio and all those pretty mics again until the fall, but I'll try to record something more "metal" in my apartment sometime soon. It's got a lot of gain for what it is also.

Oh not even metal, maybe something entering the Neal Schon/Tom Scholz category?

Okay, I gotta get Testa up here sometime so he and I can possibly record a live jam with both the Legacy and the Crate. I hate to admit the crate gets much more use than my Legacy.
