Default Wah/Wiring Guru's...Neal Schons new LP trick

Alright, I need this. Neal Schons LP has a push/pull put that activates a wah, and the knob changes the frequency of the built in wah. I NEED to know how to do this, it would be perfect for me, as I'd only use a wah in c0cked positions anyways. Anyone know how?

I've been working on something like this for some time. Only, in my case, I'm converting the tremolo arm to the wah-pot. Sort of a trem-to-wah effect.

I just sent the wah circuit board pic to John tonight, to see what he thinks about the board "mods" before I start hacking. We'll see how it comes out.

As for what Neil's done, it sounds like he just installed the wah into the guitar, and is turning the pot manually. Close to the same thing, although he's done it . . . I've just got it on "paper".

Ah yeah. The only problem I can see is fitting the actual circuit board in there. With an LP that already has wood routed out for a sustainer has quite a bit more room than a Schecter or RR-1.

Let me know if it works out, I'd love to do this.

Sounds way awesome, I really only use my wah in one position too. If you figure it out Artie, tell us!

It should fit in your V. In a recent guitar column Kerry said he used to use that same effect, and as we all know he uses V's

I actually think he uses the SPC, and has an Auto-wah on the floor.

You don't need much of a circuit board . . . most wahs are pretty simple devices to build. You could probably just knock one together out of spare parts that you have lying around. Here's a circuit diagram I found on the net . . .

Neal is always modifying his Lp's!!!! His LP's have Floyds on a lot of them! I'm sure putting a wah board/pot into an LP could be done but i have been using my LP's tone pots as wah wahs for years anyways.. The pots have a higher value cap on them and i can roll them on off and get wah style sounds... Now if his lp's have a wah built in that seems extreme concidering all the outboard gear out there.....
