You might have a use for the tone because some do, but parallel is much, much weaker and thinner -- even weaker and thinner than coil-split.

NOTE: Sounds like hairsplitting (so to speak) but coil tap is not the same as coil split. A tapped coil is almost always found in a single coil pickup. For example, a tapped single coil pickup might read 9k full on but with a tap at 7k.

You can have a tapped coil within a humbucker. I have a guy making me a humbucker with both a tap and a split. It's an 11k bucker with a 4.5k slug coil and a screw coil at 6.5k but tapped at 5.0k. This way I can choose between a 9.5k or a 11k bridge bucker. The coil split option will give me the screw coil at 6.5k.

A 4 conductor humbucker can be tapped right, or does it have to be done by custom shop, basicaly i want to be able to tap a humbucker via push pull pot with a 4 conductor humbucker.
