Default Any opinions on the Alnico 2 Pro for Strat?

    Hey guys!

I'm considering these p.u's for a future warmoth project, so i thougth i should see if anyone had opinions on them. The guitar is gonna be a "VIP", with a korina\maple body, and a Goncalo Alves\Ebony neck.

I'm looking for a sweet, warm tone with lots of chime, brilliance and fullness. After listening to the SD soundclips, it sounded really chimy and warm, but a bit "thin" compared to the other pickups, could that be their low output not driving the amp so hard?

Anyway, any opinions and advice would be greatly appreciated! Sorry if this post doesn't make any sense, i'm really tired

    Thanks alot,
    -Erlend

i use the aps2 in the neck and middle with a twangbanger bridge in an ash body maple neck strat. they never sound thin. nice and warm with a good spank to the high end. they arent high output so they dont push an amp as hard and have a more open treble responce than hotter pups.

I like them alot. Sweet enough. No problems with bass/warmth.I found they very much "reveal" your guitars natural vibe
    Yeah!

I got a2pros in all three positions in my ash strat. They came stock and it's the only guitar I haven't swapped the pickups out of. I also find them warm and very full sounding. When I first got the guitar, I figured the pups probably had about the same output as a Texas Special, because I could really nail those SRV tones. I was shocked when I looked up the specs and found out how low the output was. Having said that, I wouldn't want to be held to a prediction for how they will sound in your guitar. I'm not sure of the characteristics of that wood compared to ash. I just know these pickups will never leave this guitar and that they will have to pry the guitar out of my cold, dead fingers someday...

BTW: I'm still using the Fender suggested setup, so the pickups aren't really close to the strings and it's still not thin sounding.

I have them in my strat and they have never sounded thin. Clean & clear?

    Yes, but not thin.
    Ain't nothin' but a G thang, baby.
