favorite guitar wood?

my dream guitar would be a thinline tele where it is korina routed out with flamed koa over it. then there would be a padouk neck with brazilian rosewood fretboard and abalone dot inlays.

my dream bass would be a neck through, probably just like a ric. flamed maple neck, flamed walnut wings(on headstock too), and once again brazilian rosewood fretboard.

both with gold hardwear.

What about an alder LP? Cut just like a mahogany, real thick body, put your maple top on top it if you want. Don't you think that would still sound sweet?

My vote was for mahagony/maple cap. It is true perfection but only with humbuckers If it was singlecoils then I would choose either alder or basswood.

Mahogany Body and neck, maple top. Why don't many people use Oak for bodies? Is there something wrong with it? A mahogany body with a flame oak top seems like a nice idea to me.

Mahogany neck and body, maple cap and rw board. In other words, a nice Les Paul.

Black limba (black korina). Similar to mahogany, but more open and a bit better treble response. Plus it looks damn cool, check out this Thorn.

Black Limba isn't a separate timber from Limba, it's just the streaked part of the Limba tree which is both clear white and streaked black.

Sonically it's exactly the same as the white Limba, but not as rare.
