    Default ovation preacher?

i just wanted to know who's got an ovation preacher, besides me...and your opinions on it. I also have a question to anyone who played, owned, or owns one. Thanks

I thought Ovation made some pretty decent electrics. They weren't amazing or world-changing, but they got the job done quite nicely. They were used extensively by several TV personalities. Glen Campbell, David Cassidy both used them from time to time on their TV shows. I've never owned one, but I played one about 20 years ago when you could still get them in music stores.

i love the pickups, but i have a problem with the low e string. On the 12th fret and up if you play a note, 2 notes ring at once and it sounds quite discouraging. All i could think of was to raise the action, got any advice?

Sounds like you might need to lower one of the pickups, if they are too close to the strings, they can cause 'ghost' notes to sound, like you describe.

Josh Homme used an Ovation Ultra GP for pretty much everything up to the new QOTSA album.

Looks like Josh's success is causing some folks to jump on the Ultra GP bandwagon...

As for me, I think it would be cool to own a Breadwinner or Deacon - I love the bizarre shape. I remember them fondly from the early seventies, when I had just started playing. The store where I took guitar lessons always had a couple of Breadwinners on the wall ('cuz no one would buy 'em!)

i just lowered my pickups, and it sounds fantastic!!! Thanks Kyuss!!

The magnetism must be stronger on those pickups than my duncans, because the string spacing is a lot different.
