Default Anybody use the Boomerang pedal?

A buddy of mine, Mark Meyer, uses one and I was pretty impressed listening to him the other night. He plays with a bass player, vocalist and a drum machine, and he plays rythym for a couple of verses, then when he wants to solo he presses a button and the Boomerang plays the rythym he's recorded back as a loop and he solos over it. He can also record a bridge and the Boomerang will play the verse until he presses a button for the bridge, then it'll play the bridge and when the bridge is over, it'll switch back to the verse again. Is this the same pedal Bill Frisell uses? Seems like it works best with electronic drums...the rythym has to be rock solid in order for the loop to be in time. But I thought the tone my friend was getting was very good! Lew

They're pretty amazing gizmos. I've messed around with one, and had fun, but didn't think it was something I needed to have for my situation. My green line 6 Delay does about the same thing, since it has a loop function. If you've never owned the Line 6 Delay, you should get one. Then you'll have all those cool and realistic sounding delays, and also be able to use it like a Boomerang. For what it does though, the Boomerang is superior.

I've seen video clips of Guthrie Govan using one, seems like a pretty crazy tool.

Def. check out the Electro Harmonix 16 second delay, too! It's a smaller case and does as much, if not more.
Why don't you take your little Cobra Kais and get outta here?!

As soon as I saw a Boomerang I thought it was a 16 Second delay clone...I still think that. The 16 second delay is ttruly amazing if you learn how to use it all and you're right TO, it is a smaller and I belive that it will do more that a Boomerang.

Can it record a bridge section and keep it separate from the verse section? That's a pretty cool feature I think...being able to record two separate loops and play back either on command. Lew

I have spent very little time with a 16 Second delay but I was very impressed to say the lest when I tried one out. To be 100% honest im not sure of what all they can do. They cost more that I would ever feel like I got out of it...IMO they are well priced if you loop and use delay quite a bit but I have 2 boss delays that I rarely use...after I find and get a good analog echo for slapback I'll be happy so for me the 16 second is just overkill. But it is pretty damn cool!

    again, www.loopers-delight.com

The 16 sec delay has some serious concerns when using it for live looping. The boomerang is a wonderful live loop tool (my percussionist uses one), but i like the line6 dl4. I am not much into rhytmic looping with a band, but it is great when creating ambient spacey loops. the key to selecting a good looper is player-friendliness over features. It needs to be intuitive and easy to use in a live situation. I also use a Digital Echoplex, but it is mostly overkill if all you want to do is record rhythms (although it does that very well!).
