    Default Charvel fusion pickup advice

Hey, I just got a Charvel Fusion Special and I'm wondering what pickups to put in. The woods for fretboard, neck and body are rosewood, maple and alder I believe. The pickup configuration is pretty bizzare-two slanted single coils touching at the bridge position and one normal in the neck position. I'm looking for thrash metal tone similar to Testament, Vio-lence, Nuclear Assault but I'm trying to stay away from a flat-over compressed sound.

Any suggestions on super-crunchy pickups or rad classic rock (for variation) single coils to put in bridge position would be appreciated. Also, do the single soil size humbuckers sound as good as the regular 'buckers?

Welcome to the forum. I can't answer your question, but thought I'd give you a little "bump" since this slid to page 2.

Yeah the main thing I'm trying to find is a really hot single coil for bridge position. Let me know what you guys use!

I put a JB Jr. in the bridge position on mine. It was a HUGE change since the stock sounded incredibly thin. Solos are a little trebly, but nothing a little EQ doesn't solve. I know others have tried Hot Rails and have had good results.

The best thing you can do, if keeping your guitar stock is not a priority, is to route out enough wood to put a full sized humbucker in there. THe Fusion Special, and some versions of the 275 Deluxe, had that god aweful dual slant single route in the bridge. If you're careful, a pickup ring will cover any mess the route makes up.
