Default Good cheap guitar for metal???

can anyone suggest any good cheap guitars which will be mostly used for metal. i don't need a tremelo bar or locking nuts or anything but obviously i would like at least one humbucker at the bridge. thinnish neck is preferable. I have £300 - £350 to spend. I am looking to play stuff like Megadeth, Children of Bodom, Metallica, Kreator, In Flames and other similar stuff.

thanks

all depends on what u want to play, you can play metal from a superstrat to an LP.

Jackson JS30 series ($300 in us)
ESP LTD MH250NT, VP200FM ($420 in us)

Washburn makes good guitars, Dean Vendettas are also an option.

Greetings,
I asked a similar question recently, and ended up with a '98 Jackson DK2 off of eBay. I paid $225 plus shipping. It has a tremolo, EMG pups including a humbucker bridge. I don't know what that works out to in pounds, but I'm very happy with mine. Good luck.

No, they don't. Not new. He also said 350 Euro's, which is something like 420USD. I got my Stealth brand new with stock Duncans for 430!

Used, set neck Schecters go for 350 all the time, with stock Duncans.

Hard to beat the Schecter for "bang for the buck". Quality electronics in some of them and the hardware is very nice for any guitar.

I got my Jackson performer series kelly for $700 Australian dollars second hand, which your 350 (pounds?) would cover. It has locking nuts & floyd rose trem (I know you said you didn't need it, but...). Real slim neck that is fast as hell and a dream for metal! It has two buckers in there, but they just don't do it for me and will be swapping them as soon as I have money!

If you get a performer madel, try and get a Jap model if you can, I think they are better quality.

Every sound control carries a crap load of Schecters and they're in every decent size towns in the UK. I personally found here that Schecters are the easiest guitars to come by.

so is this Soundcontrol company any good? there isn't one near my home but i can order from their site. Is there anywhere else i can get a Schecter in the UK?

Why are Schecter guitars regarded so highly anyway?

I'm going to suggest the Gibson SG-X...one humbucker in the bridge, mahogany body (mine is VERY dark...very cool), TOM bridge. It's a stripped-down grind machine.

No, Sound Control have exclusive dealership in the UK.

Davey, I think you might be on about my lack of finding a Hellraiser 7.. Sound Control import no 7 string Schecters

Sound Control bought out Academy of Sound earlier this year so there should be plenty around; you can't be that far away from one.. Whats a one hour journey for a £350 purchase

I personally don't buy from the Salford shop because of the way I was treated once, but my fave AOS shop in the centre of Manchester is now a Sound Control, and the staff there have always been great. I'd imagine they'd be pretty good to order from : they are the UK's biggest guitar company afaik

Schecters tend to have better hardware/electronics than anything else in the price bracket (eg already having tonepros/duncans) which is why they're generally highly regarded
