Default Does anyone know any les paul copy's that sound good??...

Im starting to get interested in play les paul type guitars.. but dont have the current cash to pay for a l.p

The reason why Im interested is because Im playing a modded strat in my side project band and noticed that fenders are really flat guitars and i have to really play with my arm close to my body.. Im also very skinny and when I used to play teles I felt more comfortable.

So my current infatuation is finding real good sounding and well built tele and les paul copies..

does anybody know any companies that have les paul copies that sound good.. i played epiphone but i thought it sounded terrible..

my brothers friend brought over a les paul copy and absolutely loved the feel of it but the sounded was ok...it only cost 200..

    but anyone have recommendations?

Epiphone LP copies are as good as they come. I'm not a "copy" guy, myself, so I guess my suggestion would be to just play every one you come into contact with and see what feels good to you. Aria, Hondo, Ventura, Samick and almost every other brand has made a Les Paul copy at some time.

Agile, Tokai, and Burny are the best. I recomend Burny the most. Then Tokai then Agile in last. But Agile is still really really good.

There's so many out there you can probably lose yourself amongst them all. Some good ones have already been mentioned but I'm going to push a good word for the Epi's.

I'm an owner of one myself and JOLLY owns 7 himself. They are not bad guitars at all. The Made in China models have the better quality control and are more consistent in how they are built and the woods used. Look for one of those. Shouldn't be hard considering that most of them are made in the Chinese plant now. The Standard Plus model is really nice. Just like a Standard but with a flame maple top (most likely a thin veneer). In my searches I played lots of them until I found one that sounded and felt right to me. Toss some Duncans in it (CC/Jazz or CC/A2Pro) and you're good to go.

You should check out Orville and Orville by Gibson. It's the closest thing to the Gibson LP.

Try some Greco Super Real series and Mint Collection too... I sure want to try those.

Having tried an Orville by Gibson, Orville, Greco, Burny...

Orville by Gibson is the best. Next would be Burny, then Orville, then Greco (I've played only the EG series though). The Tokai should be at par with Burny and Greco.

I used to have an ESP LTD Eclipse 400, wish I still had it. Played an LTD EC1000, real nice with real EMG or SD pickups. Little on the gaudy side with all the abalone though. I couldn't even see the high E string on the fretboard because of the glare from the abalone under the lights.

I love my Epiphone! The stock pickups weren't bad either. I guess it must depend on what make/year it is. I put a '59 and a Jazz in mine and I love it!
Gibson LP Melody Maker -- stock, Epiphone Dot -- Jazz neck and '59 bridge, Fender Telecaster Blackout Deluxe -- stock, 90's MIM Standard Strat with Duncan Texas Hot Custom in the bridge.

    Whoops!
Edwards are great aswell. I was thinking used. If you can find a place that deals ESP they will deal in Edwards aswell. If you can snag a new Edwards you should definitly do that.

I really like my Diodati guitars.

Another thought is the Fernandes Ravelle Deluxe.

Come stock with the Duncan Jazz/JB combo.
You can usually score these fairly reasonable used on Ebay.

If your looking for tone pros, grovers, and such.
First thing comes to my mind is Schecter.

    Example: Schecter Tempest.

    CONSTRUCTION/SCALE: Set-Neck / 24.75”
    BODY: Mahogany w/ Maple
    NECK/FINGERBOARD: 3-pc. Mahogany/Rosewood
    FRETS: 22 Jumbo
    INLAYS: Split-Crown
    PICKUPS: Duncan Designed HB-102
    ELECTRONICS: Vol/Vol/Tone (tap)/3-Way
    BRIDGE: TonePros System
    BINDING: Multi-Ply
    TUNERS: Grover
    HARDWARE: Gold
    COLOR: Gloss Black (BLK)

Not my taste as for looks.
    But, definitely LP influenced.

Another thing to look for is a Dean EVO Premium.
    Czech made.

hmmm ... if the tempest qualifies , i would recommend the EC series from ESP/Ltd. it has a tummy cut which IMHO makes it really comfy.
