Default Yep...Hybrid Back In The LP Will Have To Stay

Other than changing my bridge control tone pot cap value to .022 from .015 plus the No Load control pot, this PGB/Custom A2 will stay in this guitar...Nothing else that I've tryed in this guitar can give me the clean and clear tones of a 59B bridge pickup, but with that added harmonic content and balls from the custom's coil...I have tryed several different bridge humbuckers in this guitar and it's brought me right back to the bridge hybrid..This one speaks clearly but it can also growl..

I Like this pickup alot....I've re-done some wiring in this guitar and I'm not trying anymore bridge pickups in this guitar! Bachtorock wants me to try a Jazz/Custom in the neck and once I find a cheap Jazz pickup,I'll try it,but I'm really happy with what I've got right now..

The A2 version of this Hybrid sounds really nice...It seems plenty tight and it's not overly toppy and I can always dial the tone control back a hair to warm it up further....I can tell that the pickup will cut right with my band and not be to bright..The A2 is really sweet and has really nice character with this pickup.

The 59N with an A4 is a really great fix for that woofyness in the neck of a LP and I Like the way the 59N is eq'd....

Yeah.....I'm an idiot! We're doing the neck spot and so neck bobbins makes alot of sense!

A2 or A5? Which do you prefer Pete?

Also...Does it matter which slug bobbin to use? The 59 or the Jazz and is there a difference in tonality either of the 2 ways?

You are not a knucklehead! BTW, you can make a hybrid pickup by taking a single coil from two different humbuckers and combining them. In this instance Stratdeluxer97 took one coil from a Pearlygates and one from a Custom and rewired them back together plus used an Alnico 2 magnet. Now that's what I call a custom pickup!

There aren't any instructions posted that I know of, but I understand how it's done since I've torn a few pups apart. I've never done the conversion myself. SD97 or Bachtorock may be better at answering the "How to?"

    Indeed!

I have a couple 59s and Customs lying around at home. I can't wait to try this! (Although I haven't read the instructions yet, so my lack of technical ability may prohibit any attempt)

Why not play it safe and just let Bachtorock do the mods for you? Might save you alot of hassle in the long run. You're dealing with little wires and you do need to know what you're doing!

I'm having problems logging on to the forum for some reason...anyway...

That's exactly what I emailed BachToRock about. I'm eagerly awaiting his response.
