Default can a mic go bad?

ive got an sm57, and im not going to lie its not in perfect shape (i think at least). while it has never really taken a beating, it has been dropped once or twice (not to high) and has been hit a few times. also i sing into it for demo recordings (no filter on it, sing straight up). my question it, cna the mic start sounding differently?
