Default Solo boost & wah at the same time?

    Ok, I run:

    guitar>GCB 95 Cry Baby Classic>Sansamp GT2>Amp

...but I need a boost for solos, and I'm the only guitarist so I need to turn on my wah and boost in one step! So preferably boost when activating the wah.

I figure these are my options:

    - Buy a 95Q (the one with boost built in)
    ~ or ~
    - Mod my Cry Baby for a volume Boost (how would I do this?!!)

Which is best? With either of these options will the Wah output boost create a louder overall signal or will it merely overdrive the Sansamp GT2 creating more distortion?

    Help?!
    My set-up:
Warmoth Jazzmaster with SD '59(n) SD Duncan Custom(b) / Ric 330 / Fender Comp Mustang (CIJ) with SD lil' 59(b) & flush switches! / G&L Tribute S500 >> John Spina (Stratdeluxer) Modded Vox 847 Wah (SWEET!) >> Carl Martin Hot Drive n' Boost 2 >> EHX 'Shaved Muff' (Rehoused Big Muff) >> Orange Rockerverb 50 combo!

    Oh, and a Martin 000-15S!

chances are youll just drive the gt2 harder with either of your two options up there. which may give you a little extra volume but mostly just more gain. im assuming that you have an fx loop? you could try a volume pedal in the loop, set the minimum volume on the pedal for a good rhythm level and the max volume for a a good solo level. i had a boss pedal for that a while ago

Hmm... problem is, I need to be able to turn the boost-on AS I click the Wah-on.

I guess I'll have to change the Wah switch for a DPDT then use it as the switch for the boost as well... somehow!

What d'ya think? Is it too crazy?

You can mod your wah to have more volume by changing a resistor. Do a search for wah wah mods and you should find it. Quite easy.

you could buy the Tremonti wah, it's got a boost, up to 20 db IIRC

why not just put in a DPDT and have that engage disengage your fx loop (which as a volume pedal set to "rythm volume" levels. that way every time you, wah you have a boost. You could also through in another footswitch into that circuit so that if you solo without a wah you can have the same effect without having to reset your volume pedal every time.

Here's a pretty good idea. You know you like your Crybaby wah, right? Look into the Dunlop Crybaby From Hell wah (that freaky looking thing Dimebag uses). I use it and it actually has a footswitchable boost so that you can choose whether or not you need it for a solo (you can click it in in advance before you even start playing so that the second you engage the wah, the boost will be on). Very useful IMHO. It's essentially a hotrodded 535q so you know the tone you'll be getting will be something you like (not dissing Morley, but if you're a Crybaby fan... you're not gonna want one).

I use a Bad Horsie 2, by Morley...

Great Wah, i take my foot off it and it turns itself off, optical switching - so no noise.

And it have contour and level controls... so i get that solo boost.

Thanks for all the help guys! Unfortunately as Jeremy pointing out, any kinda boost straight from the Wah will only overdrive the sansamp more. (I tried lowering the Cry Baby's input resistor and that's exactly what happened!)

Surely I can't be the first guitarist who doesn't have time to dance on two pedals?!!

Anyway, what I'm gonna try do is take the guts out of my Danelectro EQ and put in the space in the Crybaby, wiring the Crybaby switch to turn on both things. Then put the Sansamp in a loop between the Crybaby and EQ circuits. Using the EQ to boost and shape the lead sound. Erwg!
