building a warmoth

Hi guys,

How hard do you guys think it is to assemble a warmoth? I was thinking of going for a soloist body with a warmoth neck (standard thin or maybe a wizard). I was thinking of oiling it or just getting it painted. How hard is really to do? I always thought it'd be pretty easy. I have lots of experience soldering pickups =) A little less with setup, none with cutting a nut. Never actually took a guitar all the way apart before. Never took a neck off and put it back on before. If I buy a neck and body from warmoth, and generally get all the other nice parts like locking tuners, hipshot bridge, duncans, etc. how hard do you think it'll be for me to assemble it? Is there some hidden thing with an oil finish I might not be expecting? How about drilling bolt holes for the neck?

It shouldn't be amazingly hard IF you do the research before, and you get proper help available in case of help.
I highly suggest buying Dan Erlewine's book 'How to make your electric guitar play great'. You'd need it for this plan of yours. I don't have any experience with any finishing though. About the nut, you could always then bring it to a tech when finished and he'll file one for you, along with a full setup. Or you could learn yourself too. It's not too easy though at first, and can be very frustrating.

thanks guys! =) I actually have that book, it's a great read - I think just reading it got me thinking about what could happen if I'd have to shim it for some reason. Thanks for the site info Curly - can't miss an opportunity to look at an oiled neck =)

dude that neck is awesome! how did you dye it before the gunstock oil?
