So, which of these pickup would you choose if you had to play heavy metal with Stratocaster (its a fat model so the humbucker fits in it).

    Custom
    Custom Custom
    Custom 5

So, the Stratocasters alder body is quite bright so the tone of the pickup should be quite dark. I have heard that Custom pickup would be quite good but what about rest of those pickups?

So, the pickup should be in bridge position and it has to be good with heavy metal. I listen power metal so i like good rhythm sounds but i would prefer that the pickup should have A GREAT SOLOING TONE.

The Custom might be suited to what you want. It can be used for metal, because it has plenty of bass/mids/highs.

I'd start with the ceramic Custom for the same reasons mentioned...Tight,bright,agressive tone that is right in a guy's face...

I like the Custom Custom Trembucker alot, use it in my Hamer Monoco Super Pro, and tho it is plenty bright enough when adjusted the way I like it (close to the strings), it is not as bright as the Custom 5 or Custom, IMO. It has fat, singing mids that make it easy to get EVH like tones from a nice Marshall amp. I prefer the fatter tone of the CC to the C5 myself and if you're the type of player who can squeeze out notes and pinch off harmonics, I think the Custom Custom excels at doing that.

Actually any of those will work with the Custom being the most agressive and the CC having the most prominent mids.

I tried them all in a Strat and settled on the JB as my favorite in a Strat for hard rock/metal.

if your playing thru a 2 or 4/12 cab ide got with custom cuz it sounds like your gunna be playin alot of power chords and custom in a strat with those cabs will have enough base. if you have a 1 speaker combo than maybe c5 cuz it has alot of base and will help that single speaker get more base for your power chords. second option custom custom thru 2/12 or 4/12 cab wich will give custom custom enough base for most stuff and with this pickup youll cut thru any bands jam or wall of sound with its pronounced midrange clip tone. good luck
