Good God, Mike. That looks incredible.
Good God, Mike. That looks incredible.
ocifer: i actually thought about using some form of fance wood guard but it just won't fit the vibe of the guitar i don't think.
marcel: thanks!!
chill: marcel is right, i ordered them covered and took the covers off.
speeddemon: yeah i like it without a guard but if i could find one that actually matches the cream color i'd give it a try.
peterku: thanks for the kind words on my photo skills. i was a bit upset with these since i rushed them and didn't ahve propper lighting but i guess there not that bad.
Robbiedbee: it had chrome covers on it stock and it was just too generic looking for me, needed a twist.
JOLLY: i'm with you man, all les pauls should come with the guard in the case. at least i had a black screw that i put in this one so it blends in better but still it would be better if it were clean with no extra holes from the factory!
Empty Pockets: LOL i don't know about a pay for site lol but maybe i'll toss a site together with all of them on it. as for getting into gibsons (LPs or any) over strats...no way, not me! i love my les pauls but i'm a super strat guy at heart!! i have a new hardtail strat project on the way and 2 more clone guitars also!
TGWIF: no idea to be honest, this is a '99 standard not a new one. although it is as new as it gets with hardly any marks on it. i was lucky to score such a clean black LP used since i try not to buy them new.
Scott_F: yeah that was the problem stupid pink plastic. i tried another gibson guard and it didn't fit and the color was still off i also tried one from stew mac and it doesn't even come close to fitting. any ideas where i can get one that matches the color and actually fits the guitar??
Xeromus: LOL thanks bro, thought you would like the clean simple look of it!
FretFire: i actually thought about trying chrome rings but all the cream actually looks real cool in person (it got real washed out in the pics).
Erik: thanks man!! i'm happy with it, it looks great and is a great player too!!
ex-250: anything Mick Mars is fine by me!! i still plan on making a copy of his main white relic super strat one day, the big headstock fender with the tortise guard!
again, thanks everyone for the kind words!!

hey Mike, can u build an ugly axe for a change? i kinda got tired of complementing ur axes.
On Munky of Korn:
munky.. they got respect for him.. he's the jimi hendrix of our era
LOL i can't do "ugly" however there will be a relic next weekjust waiting to get it back from my luthier. so that's as close to "ugly" as it will get for me. however i love relics so to me it's not going to be ugly. so, NOPE, i can't do it lol.

Beautiful guitar...beautiful picture...almost makes me want an L.P.!
and it looks great with no pickguard.

Actually, I agree with you now you have said that, I see your point. Sweet axe bro.Originally Posted by XSSIVE

hey mike , looks awesome!!!!!!! that finish is flawless, tell me , are there ANY marks (scratches, wear, etc) on it anywhere??? so clean looking.and one other thing what year is that again???
John, it's real real real clean. about as good as it gets for a played black guitar. it has i think 2 tiny little marks, one on the back and one where the pickguard had collected some dust at the edge b/t the pickups which is very faint and actually has very few swirl marks on it. i was able to buff out 99% of the typical black guitar swirls. it's a 1999.
i can bring it with me to Cris' in 2 weeks if you want to check it out. just remind me via PM.

Sounds Cool , I'll "try" To Remind You, But Thats Two Weeks Away,a Long Time.i'll Bring My '02, It Has Some Worming On The Back And A Small Dent/chip Under Where The Pickguard Screw Goes To The Bracket Over The Body.

Damn! Cream looks awesome on that! How do you like the Jazz/JB combo on it? This combo never gets mentioned by very many for an LP and I've always wondered why not.
Seymour Duncans I've owned: Dimebucker, '59n, '59b, PG+n, JB, Phat Cat, PGn, Custom, Seth Lover, '78.

Looks sweet. I love cream pickups!
I also love your photography. Totally professional looking and the angles are superb.
I no doubt prefer pickguards, ESPECIALLY on a black standard...but I must say that looks damn nice Mike without....prolly cos you've 2 double cremes in it and the contrast is still there...amber tophats and it'd be peeeeeerrrrrfeeecttt
and yeah..whas up with all the goofy diff color creme stuff?
My r8 all matches?
