    Default What's Your Dream Axe?

If a billionaire told you they would buy you any guitar in the world, what would you pick?

It can be a guitar from a manufacturer, either stock or hot-rodded, or it can be your own totally customized creation.

One condition: It's yours to keep, not an investment. You can never sell it, or give it away.

    I'll go first:
Brand new Gibson Les Paul Custom, chambered body, in black, customized 1 3/4" nut, covered Duncan JB & 59 pups, Sperzel locking tuners, all hardware in chrome.

    Oh yeah, baby!

Leave me alone, don't want your promises no more
Cause Rock'n'Roll is my religion and my law
    Won't ever change,
    May think it's strange
    You can't kill Rock'n'Roll,
    It's here to stay.

A Fender custom shop master built stratocaster, bird's eye maple neck with brazillian rosewood fretboard, sperzel locking tuners, graphtech ghost saddles, trsq nut and a alder sunburst body with a black pickguard and Duncan CS pickups (perhaps a calibrated set of antiquities)

One of five. Can never make up my mind.

All guitars have a 3/3 tuner arrangement that provides a perfect string line and the finish matches the body, graphite nut. all electronics are shielded and all guitars have small dot inlays. The heel is countoured. All pups are SD and directly coupled.

Telecaster. Chambered mahogany body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, 24 frets, 25inch or standard fender scale lenght whatever is best. One p90 at the neck, one tele pup at the bridge. Tele bridge that adjusts all 6 strings. Master volume and tone but has a blend pot for the pups. Piezo pup at the bridge with a single volume pot. If possible some kind of vibrato that would keep the tele appearence and sound but be perfect in function. Natural finish (thin) with a black custom pickguard. Nickel hardware. No binding.

Strat. 5 coils. The normal ones are Alnico II's and routed closest to the middle something custom is added to macth that but have a hum-canceling effect. The bridge position is slanted. Alder body, all maple neck. Basically an Eric Johnson but with master volume and tone and a switch to go from buckers to singles. Either silver, transparent white or black with a black perloid guard. If in silver some black designs or the opposite if it was in black.

LP1. Two APSII (they have blades instead of slug coils) with a p90 at the middle. Tone pros hardware but with string through body arrangement. Chambered body. Straight string line at the headstock. Master volume and tone controls but with an extra volume and tone for the p90 and the JP mod. Small dot inlays. Black hardware. Transparent blackburst. All bound in white including the headstock that has a maple veneer to match the body. Transparent pickguard. 22 frets

LP2: All mahogany, single cutaway. 3 p90s, strat arrangements, but master volume and tone. No binding. 24 frets. 25 inch scale lenght.

Hollowbody. The shape is kind of like a blueshawk or nighthawk. All mahogany with rosewood fb. Sustain block onto which 3 p90's are attached like a strat (where it concerns their electronics but with master tone and volume and a series/parallel switching option). 25 inch scale, 0fret, stetsbar vibrato. Single F-hole on the bass side. No pickguard. Natural finish. Fully bounded in black.

I have always wanted a Gibson Barney Kessle, they are this odd ball mid to late 60's double cut archtop. Most of them were cherry burst (which I hate) so Im gonna have to say a big ol fat neck Barney Kessle in any burst except Cherry (tabacco would be just fine with me). One day I will own one of these guitars even if it is a cherry burst! Here is one for example!

Of all the guitars I lust after, this one is a constant!

A cross between a US Deluxe and a Clapton Strat. US Deluxe bridge, locking tuners etc. with the Clapton neck and electronics. Possibly the new Stack pluses instead of the Fender noiseless pickups. In gold sparkle!!

A Custom Hamer. I would give you the specs, but then I'd have to kill you.

    Tough decision...
either one of those Gibson Custom Shop Black Beauties with gold hardware (the 2 pup Version though) or a Custom Shop Strat with many features I'd have to think of

    So many to choose from.

    I'd take one of these:

    Veleno

    ...or one of these:

    TB500

    One I'm having built soon!!!

It's a custom built, neck through Ibanez prototype that Paul Gilbert Played in the 80's. Its a Ibanez Destroyer/Iceman Hybrid in hot pink. Floyd Rose tremolo, black binding front and back, all black hardware, all mahogony, neck modeled after PRS widefat neck, hot pink paint on neck, headstock, and matching star inlays. Its gonna be a straight ridiculous shred machine. But sound damn good too.

mine is being built right now. See in my signature about the single cut with p90's or go to www.gaugeguitars.com and look at the guitars in progress. Mine is the third one down.
