After I buy a new studio, re-tube my Marshall, and consider dropping the coin for a Splawn QR, I’m actually thinking of building this guitar:
Telecaster mahogany body with quilt maple top (double bound in cream)
Forearm and tummy cuts
H-X-H pickup configuration (humbucking Tele bridge) Neck pup mounted in ring (no pickgaurd)
Standard telecaster pot locations with LP style toggle switch in lieu of 3 way tele blade style switch (all mounted on a control plate.
Bolt on mahogany neck with ebony fret board. 25.5” scale 1 11/16” nut width (graphite nut)
Deep C profile with a 12” straight fretboard radius
Pearloid block inlays, Dunlop 6105 frets, Schaller locking tuners
All hardware will be chrome
Top to be dyed black. Back and sides to be shot clear. Neck to be shot clear. Peghead to be shot black or with matching veneer dyed black. Pickups, of course, will be Duncan… Neck pickup = Jazz and bridge pickup to be determined (could be a JB or something from the custom family).
The Tele Hoss posted on the first page is pretty close to the way I'd want it to look.
