regular 50's neck is too fat for my hand and there's no cheaper LP with 60's neck. I mean standard and classic are about 2200 and 1900 respectively. A studio (~1200) is good for me but they are only available with the fat neck![]()

It may have to do with the wood.. the 50s neck is thicker and more stable, and I know that the Studios aren´t from as "choice" woods as the standards as classics and up.....
I may be wrong, though... but that would be a reason, just to make sure you don´t ever have problems.
You can also shave the neck down to a slimmer profile, btw![]()
Zerberus Industries: Where perfection isn't good enough.
The studio neck is not the Production 50s neck on current standards
It falls right inbetween the 60s and 50s production necks for size.
it's basically the same neck Gibson used on paulas before they started offering the choice between the 50/60s
The MF deluxe has that profile, and my Firebird is pretty close as well
Buy a used classic if ya need the 60s neck
I have pretty small hands and short fingers and I like the baseball bats myself...does take some getting used to...but once ya get used to them, you'll wonder why you ever liked the thin ones![]()

Thanks, I will look into that.Originally Posted by JeffB
btw, what's up with LP classics with a gold top? they go in and out of production from year to year, seems to me.![]()
Classic with a 60s neck is a great choice. I got my 2002 second hand for just above $1000. Fantastic guitar and a neck that works for me (big gibby necks stopped me from buying an LP for yeeeeaaaaarrrrrssss).

Limited options is one of the reasons they are less expensive. Be happy you at least get a color choice.Originally Posted by rguser
