I tried a bunch of pickups in this maple/basswood G&L Legacy Deluxe. The pickup I don't even like in Gibsons beat everything.....a friggin Gibson 498T!!!!
There's also a Cool Rails neck and G&L middle. My 'shred guitar.'

Fender American Series w/rare 90's reverse metallic blueburst. Jazz bridge, and 2 Surfers. Blues, rock, pop sound. Possibly the best calibrated vintage strat HSS setup.

I prefer a full sized HB in the bridge position, although a SC sized HB may work better if you value the bridge/middle notch position tone highly. Noiseless SC's sure do make a guitar more usable in a variety of situations. I like the looks of a traditional Fender Strat more than the sharp edges of the Jackson solist type bodies, and the pointy headstock. Furthermore, a non Floyd type trem for me too.

Don Grosh makes a killer H-S-S guitar, check out the Bent Top Custom. If it had a wider neck, it would still be in my collection. I never saw the appeal in some other brands, but maybe I just haven't played the right ones.

Stop it, Zerb. You know you're not allowed to post pics of the whole thing at once any more.

    At least, you shouldn't be.

Fender AM DLX Fat Strat. The SCN's are actually stacked singles so they're totally noiseless and match the bucker well. But they're not trying to be overly "hot" or "humbucker-y." A nice balance between vintage Strat and modern tones.

Is that the Showmaster or whatever?

Sorry I don't have a better pic, but my Charvel 650xl is the only H/S/S I own. It absolutely kills. I have never found another H/S/S that plays like it, US or import. It slays every SL-1 I've ever tried. It's loaded with a Distortion/Cool Rails/Hot Rails. It's set up with individual volumes for each pickup, no tone, and the CR and HR can be split via push/pull pots.

Yup, I yanked that midboost out. It cleared up the tone a lot, espcially with the Distortion. Although, in this guitar, I think the Hot Rails actually sounded better with the mid boost. But, verything else sounds better, so I'll go with those odds.
