Well, it works... but, doesn“t take of the long useful life of the guitar? All vintage guitars are with strat or fixed bridges, would the floyd rose guitars stand to be the next vintage guitars?

All vintage guitars have fender trems or hardtails because that's all there was![]()
I've never seen a guitar damaged because of a Floyd.
Do you ask because of the rapid-loosening of string tension caused by a Floyd?
The reason that all vintage guitars have "strat" or fixed bridges is because that is what was available on truely vintage aged guitars. They really didn't become popular until the 80's and 80's guitars just aren't of the "vintage era". I don't think they put any more strain on a guitar vs. any other bridge. Strings are gonna stretch and break before wood starts to get stressed to the point of damage IMO. Actually, the fact that they float and can move with the springs in the tremolo while resting probably puts less strain on the body than a fixed bridge that naturally wants to pull the screws out of the top when the strings are at tension. That and guitars really are made to have tension on all the parts that deal with the strings.Originally Posted by joaoneto

There's no more string tension present just because a guitar has a Floyd bridge instead of a hardtail or vintage trem. 9-42 guage strings on a 25.5" scale in standard tuning will have the same amount of tension no matter what bridge assembly you have. Feel free to drop in any guage, scale, and tuning you like in the previous sentence, it will remain true.

When you consider that the typical guage of strings on acoustic guitars (which are far more delicate than any solidbody) is .013 - .056, then it's a real stretch to claim that a Floyd puts too much stress on a guitar.
In 1861 as the Confederate forces were about to fire on Fort Sumter, the blue and gray had infinitely more in common than the blue and red today. What fellowship can "the truth shall set you free" ever have with "there is no truth, only points of view", or "what is truth?"
Secession would be a horror. But barring a major national crisis like a Black Death magnitude epidemic or nuclear attack to erase once and for all the myth that truth is negotiable, it is coming.

A Floyd won“t break your guitar, or make it live shorter, or cause more wear, or need a thicker neck or anything else out of the ordinary.
