JB in all-mahogany LP-style bolt on

I presently building an all mahogany bolt-on Les Paul looking style (mahogany body+neck, rosewood fretboard, 24 3/4 scale, T-O-M bridge) and am considering a single JB in the bridge position as the only pickup. I don't know if I've every really heard the JB, can anyone describe how it might sound in this guitar and any references to similar tone (maybe a JB in an SG?)?
Would adding a maple top help or hurt the sound of this p'up in this type of guitar?
It's going to be my all-around practice guitar, so I'd like it to cover all types of rock.

The JB is awesome in a dark slab of mahogany. It gives the JB more bottom.

Thanks for the reply, that sounds perfect, as I was afraid of the JB being too bright. Maybe I'll skip adding a maple top and just leave it all mahogany.

Plenty of people use them in maple capped LPs. My preference is to put the JB into a very dark sounding guitar.

Nah, I say something more like a 59 to pearly gates. I had a JB For a long time but it only gets one sound. I had the 59-jb set on a yamaha AES 500 (les paul style mahogany maple neck-rosewood dual humbucking git box). Now i have a jazz & pearly gates plus & it can do everything. The Jb is too hot i think, & sounds too "get your spandex & cotez & plug into your JC120.
