Hello,
Does anyone here use graph tech saddles on their guitar? How do you like them? Do they really help prevent sting breakage? Did they have any affect on your tone? Was it worth the $$$? I'm thinking about getting a set for my SG...
Thanks,

Hey Lex,
I used to have all 6 graphtecs on my highway 1 strat. They definitely help against string breakage. In fact - since I put them on, I never popped one of the top strings. They will muffle the tone of your D, A and low E though, so I prefer to do what Gearjoneser does: I use the 3 graphtecs for the top 3 strings, and 3 metal ones for the bottom strings. This way - it softens up the harshness of the high e, and keeps the snappiness of the low strings.
I'd say they're worth it, but only if the guitar is already sounding great.

I've got Graph Tech saddles on my Highway 1 and I like them a lot. I haven't broken a string with them yet and my guitar stays in tune a lot better than it used to. I highly recommend them.

I was having a lot of problems with strings breaking. I replaced the saddles on one Strat and found my string breaking issues were gone. I then replaced them on all my other guitars and most issues with strings breaking were gone. I still will break an occasional string, but usually when the strings have been on too long anyway. As far as tone...... I cannot notice any difference in tone...... some guys feel there is a tone change but to my ears I cannot hear any difference. I think the sustain has gotten better since I have been using the graphite saddles. Good investment and they do what they say they will.
