I think I might have to try a set of these as well...
Also the Mo Joe sounds pretty interesting from the description on the DiMarzio site

GMP Guitars RULE!

Harsh and thin are 2 words I can honestly leave out with this pickup..It's warm and chimey on top, very very articulate, and I Love the mids and the pickup has strong lows....Originally Posted by papersoul

Maybe that's another reason I like the pickup so much?Originally Posted by wixomwhat

I have an extra Fred now that you're welcome to try out?Originally Posted by Jeff_H

Some of the guys don't like the Hybrid pickups and I Love em,so it might be possible that they don't like this pickup for the same reasons? I get a feeling this pickup may also have mis-matched coils, and lately it's something I really like for my style of playing and the gear I use...This is the same reason I Like the Fred pickup and I Know it has the slightly mis-matched coils for sure...I've been using the Fred pickup since it came out,in fact long before I ever fell in love with the Duncan pickups....I use whatever gets me where I want to be!

Well you know I Love the 59/CC A2,but that pickup is in my Tokai Love Rock.Originally Posted by notesfield
I can't really give you a fair comparison since this(VPAF HOt) pickup is in my SG...My SG is actually a darker guitar to the Love Rock and this is the reason it took me awhile to find something ballsy and strong enough and still articulate to get in the bridge position of this Tokai. The Hybrid took care of that in spades!
Both are great pickups and I Like what each one is doing in each of my guitars...

What do you mean? Just because the output is 9.13k that makes it a VH pickup? Classic maybe but the DiMarzio pickups in the EBMM guitar are variations of the Tone Zone and Air Norton.Originally Posted by wixomwhat

I think that he means that the abbreviation "VH" can also be used for Van Halen, not just Virtual Hot.Originally Posted by ErikH

Umm, yeah. I figured that part out. Read my post again. I did mention classic VH.Originally Posted by Johtosotku

Hmmm...
I love EVH's tone, it's just not a tone I would want for myself. So would I like the VHPAF or the hybrid? Are they really that close to the EVH tone?

Gibson LP Melody Maker -- stock, Epiphone Dot -- Jazz neck and '59 bridge, Fender Telecaster Blackout Deluxe -- stock, 90's MIM Standard Strat with Duncan Texas Hot Custom in the bridge.

Is the VH PAF much different the the V PAF?
Look at post #9. The tone settings or EQ of them is there. The VH PAF is wound hotter than the V PAF obviously. Seems to be just an overwound V PAF actually. I'm just going off the info on the DiMarzio site. Haven't used them myself.Originally Posted by jguttello

I use the VHPAF and the VPAF neck set in my Goldtop. I had the 'regular' one in the bridge first. It sounded great yet once I heard the Hot version came out, I immediately got G.A.S. and had to go for it.
The VHPAF has a bit more rip to it. Meaning, it overdrives a little faster and has a hair more midrange and volume. Aside from that, the overall frequency response, air, etc. is pretty much identical. Let's put it this way, they're both great. It depends on what your neck pickup and intended application are.
I still use the 'regular' VPAF bridge, paired with a Pearly Gates neck in my Burns 12 string. This is a phenomenal combo too.
Bottom Line: Bboth the Hot and the 'regular' VPAFs sound great in the bridge position as does the neck model. It's just a matter of what I said above which conforms best to the individual player's tastes.
As always, YMMV
I had an AZ in my Wolfgang Special and swapped it for the Virtual Hot and have not looked back. Amazing pickup no doubt!!Originally Posted by Mike M.

Actually shame on you for causing me VHPAF gas! I just got everything paid off too. Zero debt, but now I'm gassing!!
