Default What neck pickups work well with a C5?

...maybe even A2 pickups if there any that would mesh well with it. I'm thinking a '59 might be a bit too boomy and muddy on the lows for the guitar this will be going in (yes, the Hamer again, bear with me guys). It's a fairly dark, middy axe acoustically so I was thinking the C5 might be a good choice to balance it out in the bridge position. I liked the throaty lead tone it had when I tried it in my Schecter, but the PG set just fit that axe better.

a jazz or pg may be good in the neck for a dark, middy axe. i may consider the phat cat too.

    '59 is perfect

Believe it or not, a Stag Mag is a great neck pup. Especially if you split it. It seems to me to stay a bit cleaner, (less muddy), than many of the other 'buckers. It has become my favorite Tele neck pup.

I'm not a fan of the Jazz, too sterile and a little lifeless IMO. I may give the '59 a shot, hopefully it's not too woofy.

What's up with the Full Shred? That's one Duncan I have NO experience with at all.

EDIT: Nevermind, doesn't sound like my style at all.

Cool, the APH doesn't have any trouble meshing with the C5 in the bridge? I think I'm just going to try a smattering of pickups in this axe in the next few months and see what I like best.

If you think the Jazz is Sterile......stay far away from the FS neck!

'59 is good, so is the jazz. The jazz is more articulate and I think the 59' has more character.

Yeah, I had never even read the specs or description of that pickup, I seriously ONLY knew the name . As soon as I looked it up I knew it wasn't for me.

Jazz, A2Pro, and 59. I find the 59 a little sterile/dry FOR MY TASTES (please keep- calm if you love the 59). I loved it with the A2Pro.

I will give you another idea which worked AMAZINGLY: Custom 5 / Virtual PAF

I love the Jazz in the neck, it doesnt have as much character as say a '59 but the eq is very nice because it doesnt have the overpowering bass that neck pickups tend to have.

I paired it with a '59n, perfect match! It's like the Jazz & JB, 2 pickups who were just made for each other! ahhh, pickup love... aint that sweet! Now I'm getting all warm and fuzzy...
